Meet The Founders- Kirsten Emily

Hi friends, my name is Kirsten (Kear-sten) & I feel happy that you are here inquiring about me as part of this organization.

FINN is quite simply my mission & soul path. About ten years ago I knew that I wanted to be a social worker, mentor, & helper before I knew what I wanted out of life. While discovering my career path- I felt sure I was here to help heal others from pain and trauma.

A journey I learned through practice- healing is hard work.

My background and education is in trauma-informed care, social work, mental health therapy, child abuse prevention, suicide prevention, yoga, mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and wellness practices.

This journey started for me when I found myself finished with high school on the fast track to a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work- thrilled & inspired. Ready to keep going. During my time in school I was fortunate to have a beautiful professional role at an organization that I was once a client.

I learned about trauma-informed practices, child/adult interaction, Nurturing Parenting, and prevention tools. I studied and crafted ways to keep children safe- emotionally, sexually, physically, and spiritually.

I trained to become a therapist for children in my Master’s of Social Work program. After 5 years in school, I decided I wanted to focus my energy on adventure. I moved to sunny Charleston, South Carolina and started as a full-time caregiver working with children in the community. Ever since then, I have worked with so many beautiful families in this way, each of them have taught me so much.

Throughout years of working with families I learned ways to honor the physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual needs and well-being of children.

As a member of leadership at this organization, I value empathy, humility, and sustainability

Things that bring me joy are conscious behavior breakthroughs, old patterns unwritten, great coffee, almost anything sweet, animals, expansive community, and always children.

I believe strongly in resiliency; everyone has a lot of it.

Also I am convinced that we take this thing called life way too seriously, so let’s dance it out

Thanks for reading & getting to know a little bit about me. I am excited to know you, too.

Love is it- all ways, always. We’ll heal the world with it.

Kirsten Emily Finn,

Social Worker. Mentor. Life-Long Learner.
